Portreath

Portreath is one of Cornwall's most popular beaches with its large pretty sandy beach and is excellent for surfing; also being a spectacular beauty spot. Superb views from the cliffs and excellent coastal walks leading from Portreath; 4 and a half miles to Bassetts Cove in the south or 4 miles north to Porthtowan. There is a cycle path from Portreath all the way to the south coast. Portreath has  a small 18th cent harbour but now little used and shelters a few small boats. There is a large car park bordering the beach with an excellent and quite large restaurant and cafe at very reasonable prices. Also a little takeaway cafe overlooking the beach with some outside seating. A short stroll from the beach are other and varied shops.
