Lee Barton Farm
Enjoy
walks or fishing on this traditional working farm. Wildlife is attracted
to the farms ponds and woods and there is the opportunity to spot different
varieties of animals and birds such as woodpeckers, kingfishers and even
perhaps the occasional badger or fox. A short stroll from your holiday
cottage is the ancient carp pond used by monks in the12th cent (one
of the oldest such ponds in the country & featured on a T.V. programme).
It is now set aside as a nature pond and there are often ducks and the
occasional heron. The neighbouring pond is used for coarse
fishing, stocked during 2003 and 2004 with rudd, tench and carp (tench
up to 3 lbs and carp up to 8 lbs). Holidaymakers usually catch lots of
fish. The ponds are an attractive venue for picnics. There is a footpath/lane
through the farms woods and circular walks, linking up with local footpaths.
The lane leading from the farm takes one down a picturesque walk through
the Coombe Valley and to the beach at Duckpool.
