Towns and villages of Devon and Cornwall
Looe
Looe is a traditional
old cornish fishing village with a maze of pretty colour washed cottages,
shops and eating places. There
is a large variety
of individual shops, old character pubs and restaurants offering quality
food-Looe being well known for its fish menus; with fresh fish brought
in by Looe's still active fishing boats. Looe's great attraction
is its lovely sandy beach which conveniently leads off from the village's
shops. Looe actually consists of two parts, East and West Looe, being
separated by Looe bridge. The river and harbour are covered with
a colourful array of sailing and fishing boats. Boat trips and mackerel
fishing trips and deep sea fishing are both available and also shark fishing
for the more adventurous. Also one can fish from the Banjo pier.
Coming from the direction of Polperro there is a huge car park, reached
by a sharp left turn, just before you get to Looe bridge. Walk over
the bridge and into East Looe and the beach.
